life’s a half-crazed, wildeyed thriveling

her pupils tremble and dilate

in a dream she seems

to walk along the cornstalks

eating ryebread

she thumbs seeds

into the sand

death’s a half-sane, disconnection spanning

his non-claws don’t click,

constantly cleaving

he saunters along the concrete

with a smile but no plan

eats nothing and drags

life by the hair

Licks brown bluntskin,
Snaps her fingers for fire,
Breathes a language of curlicues
At you:
Magik
Slithers updown
Two helixed red-dirt worms
Neith the twitch of catfish whiskers
(be hooked!)
And-And
Branching,
Trifurcating,
Gaeaéa slinks and quops
With fat, grabby anemones
For mouths:
Come down.
Up from dirt ground
Brown with cracked locust shells,
Snake pelts, microscopic hellmouths,
She comes
